Wounds And Injuries & Their First Aids

By editor | July 18, 2007

Wounds and injuries are the most common features especially during childhood. Children, while playing, often get wounded or injured with many things such as, slips on the hard floor while running, dashes against the wall or some vehicle unnoticeably, or falls down from some high walls or structures and or meets with an accident while riding a bike or bicycle.

Wounds or injuries may be of various types like cuts or tear in tissue called lacerations, scrapes called abrasions and puncture wounds caused by insect bites or some other injuries. Wounds or injuries other than caused by insect bites heal faster without any proper care or treatments, however, certain wounds can of course cause extensive blood loss. Also some wounds / injuries may turn complicated due to infections or even injury on the deeper structures of the body like, nerves, tendons or blood vessels. Often some foreign material piece could remain in the deeper wound hidden inside the puncture.

For any kinds of wounds or injuries the very first Wound Injurystem required is applying First Aid on the wounds. Trying to stop bleeding is the basic most thing to be done, for which firmly compress the bleeding site with finger or hand for at least five minutes. Try to raise the wounded part above the heart level if the bleeding is not under control even after compression. Wash the wound thoroughly removing all the dust and debris with soft soap and plain water. Use the absorbent or cotton for the process. Then apply some antibiotic ointment or solution on the wounded area and cover it with bandage cloth or medicated self adhesive tapes.
